God Bless America

God Bless America

By Irving Berlin – Written during WWI,
but first performed in 1938.

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans with white foam,
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.

*In 1940 he created The God Bless
America Fund from which the proceeds
of sales of sheet music, phonographs,
etc. went to the Boy Scouts and
Girl Scouts, the two organizations
he believed – best calculated to
promote unity of mind and patriotism.
